Interzero goes online with WEEE portal

+++ Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment now also can be dispensed via Interzero

+++ Comprehensive offer on registration, authorization, and information

+++ To close the loop, recycling of electrical appliances can also be easily booked

Berlin/Köln. Europe's leading provider of circular solutions Interzero, has developed a Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) portal based on the experience in the take-back of WEEE, which went live this week. Through a holistic approach, the life cycle for e-devices can be completely closed.

With the portal, foreign manufacturers and dealers now have an easy way to meet their responsibilities under the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) in Germany.  According to the law, from 1 July 2023 manufacturers and dealers will no longer be allowed to sell via electronic marketplaces in Germany if they do not ensure the take-back and recycling of the waste electrical and electronic equipment they sell in Germany. Manufacturers and dealers from abroad are also obliged to do so.

Anyone who offers and places electrical appliances on the market for the first time in Germany is considered a manufacturer and must first apply for registration with the Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte Register (ear) and subsequently fulfil other manufacturer obligations. Electrical appliances such as heaters, screens, lamps, radios, washing machines and also mobile phones can no longer be sold without appropriate proof.  This also applies to devices for professional use in companies.

With the WEEE portal, Interzero now provides manufacturers and dealers with a simple and secure digital tool to fulfill their obligations. The Solution Catalog includes:

  • Manufacturer registration (and reporting service) at the Stiftung ear
  • Authorized service for foreign manufacturers and dealers not based in Germany
  • Insolvency-proof guarantee
  • Information service for manufacturers and dealers on adjustments to the ElektroG, labelling and information obligations, etc.
  • Digital management of manufacturer's obligations
  • Take-back system for waste electrical and electronic equipment

This results in a comprehensive offer that many previous platforms do not have. The ergonomic approach is the reason why Interzero now offers this solution: "Customers have asked us whether we will have a corresponding portal. We then saw that the market was missing a simple, complete offer that makes registration easy and secure and closes the gap of recycling.  Now we are online. We use our experience in Europe and Asia through our sister company ALBA Group Asia," says Dr. Uwe Brohsonn, responsible for the portal at Interzero.

Interzero's WEEE portal is now available in English under the following link: epr.interzero.de.
