Check for Recycling – Optimize packaging assessments and documentation to ensure compliance with PPWR regulations using a digital solution

The new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) presents companies with a major challenge: In future, packaging will need to be systematically assessed and documented, and evidence of compliance must be available. Our new online tool, Check for Recycling, helps you meet these requirements.

What companies need to do now

The PPWR will generally apply from 12 August 2026. From that date, manufacturers must comply with the applicable documentation and conformity assessment requirements for packaging placed on the EU market, although certain PPWR requirements will apply at a later stage.

Act now: By that date, all required information should be collected, complete and documented in a clear and traceable manner. Failure to comply may result in penalties, sales bans and reputational damage.

Who is affected?

The primary responsibility for PPWR documentation and the EU declaration of conformity lies with the manufacturer. Under the PPWR, the manufacturer is the economic operator that manufactures packaging or a packaged product, or has it designed or manufactured under its own name or trademark.

Importers and distributors must nevertheless verify that the required declaration of conformity is available.

Our solution: Check for Recycling

When customers, importers or market surveillance authorities request evidence of PPWR compliance, the relevant technical documentation and EU declarations of conformity must be readily available. Check for Recycling brings together packaging data, technical documentation, supporting evidence and EU declarations of conformity in one central location.

Key features

Packaging analysis

Enter all relevant data on the material composition of your packaging in the input form so that the packaging can be analysed.

Assessment and ABC grading

The recyclability of your packaging is determined and assigned an A, B or C grade in accordance with the minimum standard issued by Germany’s Central Agency Packaging Register (ZSVR).

Creation of the EU declaration of conformity

Generate an EU declaration of conformity (DoC) for each packaging unit through a structured digital process.

User-friendly portfolio management

Manage your portfolio by product group or country and maintain a clear overview at all times.

The result: A transparent and traceable compliance record comprising structured technical documentation, evidence of packaging recyclability and EU declarations of conformity prepared in line with PPWR requirements. The documents can be accessed online at any time in response to requests from authorities or other stakeholders.
