Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2018 / Interseroh Among Finalists in Two Categories / Award Ceremony on 25 April 2018

Cologne. Interseroh is among this year’s finalists at the international Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2018. The environmental services provider is in the race for one of the sought-after awards in two categories, “Best Recycled Plastic Packaging Product” and “Plastics Recycling Ambassador of the Year”. A seven-strong panel, consisting of representatives from politics and business, had voted.

In the “Best Recycled Plastic Packaging Product” category, Interseroh convinced the panel with containers for the reusable shipping system “memo Box” of environmentally aware mail-order retailer memo AG. The company had developed a special formulation of its recycling plastic Procyclen for memo AG. This new formula offers unique material attributes such as a long product lifespan, mechanical stability to up to -30°C, as well as UV-resistance and transport safety, which are only rarely achieved in such a combination, even with the use of new materials. These material properties are indispensable for the high requirements of the logistics industry.

In the “Plastics Recycling Ambassador of the Year” category, Interseroh’s plastics recycling expert Dr Manica Ulcnik-Krump, Head of Business Unit Recycled-Resource, was chosen as one of the finalists. The purpose of this category is to recognise particularly inspiring personalities in the field of plastics recycling. Since 2008, Ulcnik-Krump, who has a PhD in chemistry, has used her expertise at Interseroh to advance the development of high-quality recycling plastics. In this function she was a key contributor to the development of the multiple-award-winning recompound Procyclen, which Interseroh manufactures in the specially developed upcycling process Recycled-Resource.

“We are pleased that we were able to convince the panel with our work. This is major recognition of our efforts in the last few years,” says Dr Manica Ulcnik-Krump, Head of Business Unit Recycled-Resource at Interseroh. “The personal nomination as ‘Ambassador of the Year’ fills me with pride and strengthens me to continue on my path and to devote all my efforts towards high-quality plastic recycling.”

Interseroh, a subsidiary of the recycling specialist ALBA Group, manufactures the recycling plastic Procyclen from plastic waste which origins from the German Dual System recyclables collection. In addition to the unique combination of the material attributes, the recycling plastic is also superior to new materials in terms of its raw material, energy and climate protection balance.
