Berlin/Cologne/Holm. Interzero, a leading European provider of circular solutions, today announced the acquisition of BRAMIN GmbH, a specialised distributor of vertical balers. With this move, Interzero expands its portfolio in particular for the benefit of small and mediumsized enterprises. Since its formation in 1993, BRAMIN has been a distributor for the Danish vertical baler manufacturer Bramidan, primarily for the German market.

More than 4,000 customers from the retail, wholesale, commercial, trade, logistics and industrial sectors already use the baler to compress paper, paperboard and cardboard (PPC), films, polystyrene and other materials generally utilised as transport packaging. Alongside the balers, BRAMIN also provides its customers with purchase, pickup and direct marketing services for the compressed secondary raw material bales. BRAMIN also offers a complete service package for the machines themselves that includes presales advice, maintenance, repairs and training.

Optimised waste management process for customers

Balers allow to optimize internal workflows and the overall waste management chain. Thanks to their small space requirement, the machines can be set up directly at the waste’s point of origin, eliminating the need to use waste containers and shortening roundtrips. Another benefit is the reduced storage space needed by these compact bales of compressed material. This reduces space requirements at point of origin while ensuring more efficient transportation to the recycling company, which cuts costs while improving environmental performance.

Driving digitalisation

The use of state-of-the-art systems to improve quality and efficiency is an important component within Interzero’s overall digitalisation strategy. The advanced technical status of the BRAMIN vertical balers ensures integration with existing digital tools provided by Interzero, such as its Zero Waste Manager. BRAMIN vertical balers can optionally be equipped with IOT support, for example, which allows customers to query machine status and waste quantities, and conduct data-driven analyses. A pilot project has also shown that the automated pickup of bales triggered by machine data can lead to further improvements in efficiency.

Sebastiaan Krol, CEO Interzero Circular Solutions: “BRAMIN represents a targeted expansion to our service portfolio. Previously, Interzero has primarily been active in the international baler business, while this acquisition now allows us to target the domestic market. At Interzero, we also tend to focus on larger customers. With BRAMIN, we can now address the needs of mid-sized companies, who typically lack the internal resources and expertise that would allow them to focus on efficient and sustainable waste management processes. Our newly expanded portfolio will help us to tap into this unused potential.”

Lau Engholm, BRAMIN Founder and Managing Partner: “We are happy to have found a smart, comprehensive and future-oriented solution for BRAMIN. As the founder, I was keen to identify a purchaser who is a good fit for our company, who appreciates our corporate values and who can write the next chapter in the BRAMIN success story. With its longstanding expertise in sustainable, made-to-measure recycling and closed-loop management, plus its vision of a world without waste, Interzero is the perfect new owner for both BRAMIN and its customers.”
