Borderless packaging: running resources in a closed loop across national borders
Cologne. The fourth "Future Resources" conference will take place under the motto "Borderless packaging" on 10 November 2020 – online and without a participation fee. Experts from the retail trade, consumer goods industry and recycling industry will discuss the requirements of an international packaging market and possibilities to use packaging materials in a way that protects the climate and conserves resources. The event also offers an insight into the latest political developments at European level and presents material innovations.
"The high level of interest in the event jointly hosted by Interseroh and the German Packaging Institute (dvi) over the last few years demonstrates how important the handling of finite resources is for all those involved in the packaging loop," says Markus Müller-Drexel, Managing Director of INTERSEROH Dienstleistungs GmbH. "To ensure that no risks are taken during the current corona situation, the entire programme will take place online this year."
Sabine Nallinger, chairwoman of Foundation 2° – German Businesses for Climate Protection, will speak on the topic "Packaging vs. raw materials – what is more important in today's world?", before Dr Carl Dominik Klepper, Managing Director of Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verpackung + Umwelt e.V. (AGVU), takes a look at Europe and the current framework conditions for packaging. In addition, Urban Buschmann, Head of Process Development at FRoSTA AG, will present a best-practice example of paper packaging for frozen goods and Axel Subklew, spokesperson for the "Waste separation works" campaign, will introduce the information campaign of the German dual systems. Finally, Ansgar Schonlau, Managing Director of maag GmbH, will speak on the recyclability of meat and cheese packaging.
"In the medium term, the goal must be to make all packaging recyclable and to produce the majority of it from recycled materials," says Winfried Batzke, Managing Director of dvi. "Future Resources offers the ideal platform for dialogue and exchange between all stakeholders to support the necessary paradigm shift."
