A Clear View of Sustainability: Mister Spex and Interzero Keep IT Hardware in the Loop
As one of Germany’s leading opticians, Mister Spex aims to help people “see the world and express themselves.” Now, the company is also demonstrating foresight when it comes to the circular economy and sustainability. In 2025, Mister Spex launched its first project in partnership with Interzero to collect and reuse IT equipment. “We spent a long time searching for a reliable partner who could help us drive recycling and reuse forward in a professional manner,” says Eric Jonzeck, Head of ITSM at Mister Spex. “With Interzero, we have finally found the right partner.”
Safe and Straightforward
There are several key benefits for Mister Spex: Not only does the partnership improve the company’s record on climate and resource protection, it also boosts economic sustainability. After all, the company obtains a fair return for its retired hardware. Interzero purchases the used IT and communications equipment and handles every step on the way to reuse. This includes erasing all data to the highest security standards, professional technical refurbishment, and remarketing the devices – for instance, via the online shop gebrauchte-technik.de.
“After our initial contact with Interzero, everything moved very quickly. Our hardware was collected without fuss, and we received an initial assessment based on professional, well-defined criteria,” reports Eric Jonzeck. Most devices, he says, were far too good to throw away: Interzero’s experts examined a total of 355 devices – 345 of which could be refurbished for reuse. This included over 300 laptops and tablets, as well as 32 monitors and one server. Only ten laptops were beyond repair and sent for recycling.
Regular Collections Planned
One thing is clear for Mister Spex: the IT equipment cycle with Interzero is here to stay. “We are very satisfied with the process and the personal support, and we plan to carry out a collection project for our two main sites in Berlin at least quarterly,” says Eric Jonzeck. Good for the environment and for the company – this cooperation shows how ecological and economic goals can be united through smart circular solutions.
